Computer/Photography Group

Hello All,

For our Tuesday meeting I'll go to "Ask Leo": http://ask-leo.com/the_first_8_things_you_should_do_with_your_new_computer.html?awt_l=LneiF&awt_m=1eaxDWVn_pdfbL where he suggests 8 things to do when you get a new computer. They are all great suggestions and I think maybe 1% of people buying new computers actually follow all this. It's still good to go through this and pick and choose what might work for us.
I have attached jpg files to the group email which you can read and print if you like.
Speaking of printing these attachments, we could discuss in detail what might work better for all of us for printing and I will show what I ended up with. It might be worth holding off printing till after we have had the discussion.
Also, come with your questions about computing and let's write them down and collectively work out a good answer.

Computer/Photography Grp.

For our January 11 meeting we will focus on photography. Just so you all know, we are planning a field trip to Craigdaroch Castle in Victoria slated for January 27 to leave the Legion at about 9:00 am and return at about 2:00 pm. Details about this trip are being worked out and for now it includes our Computer/Photography group with spouses, signifigant others invited to come along. There is an admission fee and we hope to stop for lunch.  I understand camera use is OK and even flash use is alright. There is much to see and take pictures of but the lighting in the rooms is not bright, so for this meeting, January 11, I want to talk about getting good pictures in low light conditions and if you bring your cameras, practice shooting in low light.
Here is the website for Craigdaroch Castle: http://www.craigdarrochcastle.com/ check it out, there is a lot of interesting information and history.
Some pictures from that site are included as attachments.

See you on Tuesday.

Men's walking group

Computer/Photography Group

Hi,
This is a post to inform you of what we talked about at our meeting earlier today.
The main topic was "How to set up your IE8 browser to work 'In Private".  There seem to be more security issues out there when emailing or surfing the internet.  Internet Explorer 8 has addressed this problem by allowing users to browse  and erase the trail when each browsing session is closed.  The cookies, temporary files, passwords you might have entered, etc. are deleted automatically from your computer when you close a session. This is another step to keep you in control of your computer.
I will send out details by email of how to set up IE8 to do this.
Next week the emphasis will be photography.
Just so you know - We are planning to take a field trip to Craigdaroch Castle, Victoria,  probably January 27.
This is a Thursday.  Details are still sketchy, but if you are interested contact me either by phone or email.
