Not too cold.  No rain.  A pleasant day for a stroll down behind the Legion and along the Old Bamberton-Haul Road and back.  Map and photos below.  --  DeNNis.

Follow the yellow dotted line left from the Legion (bottom right), then counter-clockwise back
to the Legion.

Looks like a long walk from bere.
The beginning of Skunk Cabbage season.

Somebodys living space.

The alpacas are always curious when we come along.

The remnants of an old bridge at the end of this portion of the
Bamberton-Haul Road.

Someones attempt at an Inukshuk.

It's a bird - it's a turkey vulture - it's just a rock imitation.

The horse at the other end of this section of Bamberton-Haul Rd.

The trail from where the horse is, back up to the Legion is
narrow and interesting.

An old bridge that has seen better days.

Looks like beaver have been at work here.

A couple of "woodpecker trees".

Classic car buffs bonanza.

Not a great people picture but it shows the grain of the huge table nicely where we drink our coffee.

Another cool, crisp, but sunny Monday morning for a 9Km walk on Wilkinson Road.  Good day for a stroll on Wilkinson Road.  Map and photos below.  --  DeNNis.

Parked the cars up behind Tim Hortons (bottom right) and did a clockwise loop from there, across the "stone bridge" to Wilkinson Road.

Lots of moss building up on the stone work of the bridge.

Frances Kelsey School.

Sylvan United Church.

Looking upstream from the bridge on Shawnigan-Mill Bay Rd.

Kerry Park Arena.

Shadows.

The bridge near Wilkinson Rd.

Ferns are nice and green.

Pussy Willows starting to form?

A couple of horses enjoying the sun.

Ecole Mill Bay Elementary boarded up.

George Bonner school.

This wooden shoe needs some TLC.

Looking at the progress on Hayden Rd off of Horton Rd.

Pioneer Square Mall.

Dandelions are getting started.

Must be coffee time.

Temp near 0C when we started the trek.  Cool and sunny - perfect weather for a 9Km walk to check out the Cowichan Bay Heron Colony.  A few interesting things along the way.  Map and pics below.  --  DeNNis.

Parked in the Market lot near the Koksilah Rd Fire Hall.  The map shows the route quite well.

An interesting fencing concept.

You don't see many of these milk cans these days.

Obviously a "Bed & Breakfast".

The view from above Cowichan Bay village.

Unique driveway marker - looks like a large boulder.

The Ocean Front Hotel.

Looking down one of the docks.

Seen in passing.

Statue in Hecate Park.

Looking over his domain.

"Birds of a feather flock together"  -  just some of the Heron nests.

Woops - those aren't Herons.

Looking up to the sky and towards the sunlight makes
for poor photo quality.

A heron couple for every nest.

Heading back down Wessex Road.
