It was a good day for the 13 of us to walk 8Km around Cobble Hill ending with coffee at the Old School House.  Next week plan is around Shawnigan Village and the Old Mill Park. -- Brook

We had a good walk around the Cobble Hill area this morning.  Cool to start but the sun eventually found us.  Below are the pictures I managed to get.  --  DeNNis.

I think the map is fairly straight forward even though our route is kind of convoluted.  Just follow it counter clockwise from the bottom left corner.

We took the High Road  --  to the right and below us
is the E&N Railroad and Cobble Hill Road.

Mom and her three month old offspring.

Across the road these guys were wondering what other strange
animals were in their neighborhood.

"Is that the best you have to offer?  Grass is so boring."

A house about to be on the move.

In the playground at Ecole Mill Bay  --  could be fun in the warmer weather.

Neat fence art they have.

Mother Natures work.

A little arch art.

Unique fence - but its seen better days.

Spotted on Hutchison Rd.

A welcome sign!!

Interesting 9Km walk for the 11 of us to stroll around Victoria and Dallas Road.  Lunch was at the Fan Tan CafĂ© in China town.  Next week will be a local walk in Cobble Hill.  --  Brook

Below are my photos of todays walkabout in Victoria.  The weather held out and the company was great  --  AND the lunch was delicious.   ---   DeNNis.

Follow the "yellow brick road" counter-clockwise from where we parked near the Ogden Point Breakwater.  No room to add more info - should be easy to follow.

The Breakwater  --  the next photo shows what was hiding at
the top of the tall light standard at the right side of the photo.

We were being ignored.

Fishermans Wharf  --  lots of colour.

This guy was checking out a seagull on the wharf.

Notice the lady in black - she was checking us out.

Reflections in the Inner Harbour.

These folks have their own private duck pond.

King of the hillside.

Whale watchers with the Blue Bridge in the background.

A full meal in a single mushroom, or is it a toadstool(?)

The "Coho" about ready to depart.

Remember the jingle, "Big or teeny, just call Heaney"?

This old boat caught our eye - looks like it has been around
for a good, long time.

At the other end of Fan Tan Alley is our lunch.

The old Chinese Public School.

A couple of sightings on Menzies Street on our way back to the cars.

Five ladies did a good walk around Shawnigan Lake and the weather was nice and mild.

A kids treehouse with the trees growing through it  -- lucky kids.

This sign looks a bit like a bears head??

Mushrooms still growing in the damp ground.

On Monday, October 31st, four ladies braved the rainy day walking Cameron-Taggart Rd.

The next walk will be Chapman Road area come rain or shine.

Stopped at a studio but didn't find anyone about.

Saw some very bright yellow toadstools/mushrooms(?) --

-- and also some white ones --

-- and Dianne investigated some really deep orange ones.

The little birdhouse has seen much better days as has the
post it is sitting on.

Three under an umbrella.

A good walk today through Manley Park and back around Aros and Telegraph Rd.  A little damp, but we need a little rain now and then.  Not great for picture taking though.  Here is what I have to offer.  --  DeNNis

It was good exercise for the 14 of us to trek around Arbutus Ridge followed by coffee at Shawnigan House.  Next week will be a road trip to Victoria to walk from the Breakwater along Dallas Road over to China town.  With lunch plan to be at the Fan Tan Cafe.  --  Brook

Follow the blue trace counter-clockwise from where we parked the cars at the Manley Park entrance.

The umbrellas add a little colour to the photo.

The creek is running well.

You would think someone added a box of detergent to the water.

Definitely an autumn scene - lots of leaves coming down.

Visibility not very good.

Doesn't slow the geese down, though.

A dry seat protected from the rain.

But not enough room for the whole crew to sit.

A fuzzy deer -- almost escaped the camera but caught him on the run.

And lots of Canada Geese -- probably interested in the marshmallows.

Business as usual at the Tank Farm.
