Men's Walking Group

Seven of us jumped in 2 cars and made the l-o-n-n-n-g trip up to Nanaimo for a stroll around Westwood Lake - a 6 Km walk.  Map and photos below.  --  DeNNis.

Follow the trace counter-clockwise from where the cars are parked. (near center right)

Not too far from where we parked - the beach area.

Reflections - typical for a nice sunny day.

The first boardwalk - there are a total of 17 of these of various sizes
around the lake.

More reflections - there are a few reflection photos.

In this photo it is just the reflection.

Lots of tall trees.

This was a man made lake, so lots of old tree stumps poking skyward.

Another of the 17 walkways.

We could see the odd coin in the water.

Not sure what it is or what
denomination.

A very easy trail to walk.

Some blown down trees that were removed from over the
trail.

Can you see the bird in this tree and root stump?

The "Half Way Point".

The first walkway as seen from the opposite side of the lake.

Had to show more reflections.

Nice burls on some tree
trunks.

A fisherman on the lake.

Zoomed in a bit.

Mill Bay trails aren't the only ones with
mysterious painted rocks. But the Mill Bay rocks are nicer?

Getting to the hilly parts of the trail.

Bill overlooking his momentary domain.

More tall trees.

The official "Lake Procclamation."

A delicious lunch and beverage in Ladysmith at the
"FOX & HOUNDS" Pub.
