Walking in a winter wonderland   ---   NOT what we expected!  But - All's well that ends well.  It was still an enjoyable outing and will make us appreciate Spring that much more - when it comes.   ---  DeNNis.

This map is already so cluttered that I couldn't add much.  Follow the "yellow brick road" from where we parked in Bamfield Park (top right) in a clockwise direction and it should tell the story.

Notice the grass is green.

Mansion on the hillside.

Across the Selkirk Trestle.  Watch for bicyclists.

Looking south -sort of.

Looking up the Gorge waterway.

The yellow print on the pavement in the bottom center of the
photo states "You are here".  Okay!

Cock of the walk.

A unique piece of sculpture - probably very costly.

Yes - that is snow.

Even though the shrubs are blooming.

The Rock Bay Mural project.

Stopped in at Phillips Brewery for a break from the snow.
Sneaked a picture of the huge vats.

Psychedelic paint jobs add interest to the neighborhood.

In Capital Irons' Outdoor Garden Center.

Inside their lower level.

Looking across the Capital Iron parking lot, this mural looks very real.

Making our way through
Fan Tan Alley.

The Gate of Harmonious Interest.

Feeling better and warmer after an excellent lunch.

A little more snow but this person doesn't mind.

The old Blue Bridge.

Beneath the Pt Ellice Bridge.

Lots of snowdrops.

The once-green grass is now WHITE.

We had a beautiful day for a walk and fun in a local kids park.

Our walks are at an easy pace so please come and join us. We stopped at Tim Hortons for a well deserved treat.  We meet and leave the Legion every Monday morning at 9:30.  Looking forward to our next walk and hope to see you there.
A big, hairy old tree that survived the storm.

We couldn't ride this great old slanted tree, darn it, but we tried.

Beautiful painted bear  --  was he waving us in?
Kinda looks hungry doesn't he?

Lenora took the easy way up.

Helen made it to the top.

An interesting 6Km trek for the 12 of us on the west side of Shawnigan Lake followed by coffee and complimentary cookies at Subway.  Reminder that next week is the last Monday of the month and plan is a road trip and a Mexican lunch in Victoria.  --  Brook

A good walk today along part of the Trans-Canada Trail from McGee Creek through Shawnigan Park and back along West Shawnigan Lk Rd. via some other streets.  No rain encountered and the company was good.  --  DeNNis.

The map should be pretty clear.  Follow the "yellow brick road" in a clockwise direction from where we parked the cars on Rebecca Rd near McGee Ck Trestle.

One or two trees across the trail due to our winter weather.

Heading into Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park.

This old tree is just tired.

Lots of bits and pieces under this big old tree.

Cormorants standing guard over Shawnigan Lake.

Panoramic view across the lake.

A none snowy area - good place to rest a bit and gab.

Lots of old dead-fall.

A scene from the past - notice the old gas pumps, telephone booth, carvings, etc. The photo does not do it justice.  Seen on Hepworth Road.

In the entrance to the above photo.

Looking across to Mt Baldy.

Some parts of the trail still quite snowy.

None observed.

McGee Creek Trestle.

Women's Walk  --  Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.

Today was a wonderful day for a leisure walk and play in the snow.  We walked at the doggie park in Cobble Hill and then did some side roads where it was drier and easier walking.  We went to the Cobble Hill's Monday Luncheon and it was very good  --  chicken cordon bleu with rice and carrots and carrot cake for dessert.  It was a perfect day.

Fancy designs in the ice.

Bunny rabbit finding some dry grass in the snow.

Standing guard at the bike park.

Too exhausted to go any further.
