Woman's Walking Group

Seven walked from Arbutus Ridge down through Manley Park. We did 3,915 steps - or more. Much fast flowing water and many mini waterfalls, some with unusual colour. Some pretty seashells were found by the walkers that went down to the beach. The damp weather has produced many mushrooms to be photographed. Coffee was at the Ridge Café. Next Monday the 16th we will be in the Briarwood area. Leaving the Legion at 10 am.     VM

Men's walking group

Like Dennis sead it was a damp walk but only to start us off the last half was dry and I think we found Cowichan Bay so interesting, it was well worth a little dampness. 11 of us did 8k, With only a couple of us with wet feet. Next week the 16th, Dennis has lined up a special walk in Ladysmith with lunch out. So we will meet at the Legion at 8:30 and be back by 2pm. Anyone out there that reads this, we welcome new members any time. If you would like to get some exercise with some great company, join us.

Another good walk today - even if it was a little damp.  The company was good and the coffee later warmed us up again.  --  DeNNis.

Parked at Koksilah Market.  Just follow the Red arrows on the Yellow Brick Road.
Umbrellas were the order of the day.

Looks like an odd place to park a large ship.

Inn at Cowichan Bay (used to be that name) and the Cow Bay Pub.

The Cow Bay Wharf from a different perspective.

Panorama from the Wharf.

Doors in the distance - on the Museum Wharf.

Which way is up?????

Hecate Park Entrance.

See the Sea Otter??

"Mr. Dress-up" would say, "It's a lovely day in Cowichan Bay".

The young folk are having fun in the play park!

The ground is covered with snow drops - the flowering kind.

Does this mean a large family lives
at this address??

Wet is how I would describe the weather for our walk today. Maybe damp would be a better word, It looks like next week will be better so next week we can try for Cowichan Bay again. Today 13 of us did 8k, thanks to the drivers Dennis,Harry & John. See you all next Monday.

My photos and Google Earth map of our slightly damp walk-about today.  Despite the weather it was very enjoyable followed by a warm coffee at Subway afterwards.   ---   DeNNis.

Parked at the Tennis Courts behind Kerry Park Rec Center (top center). Follow the blue trace clockwise from there - across the Stone Bridge, past Tim Hortons, up Deloume, Lilmac along Briarwood to Shawnigan-Mill Bay Rd  and back .

Upstream side of the Stone Bridge between Kelsey School and MacDonalds/Tim Hortons.

Downstream side -- Lots of water in the creeks.

Just passing through.  No time for coffee yet - until we get really wet.

Hollings Creek in Briarwood Park.

Got pretty wet - but we didn't melt!!

Great weather for growing fungi --

-- and more fungi.

The giant Ant hill is still there - but they are all inside staying warm.  Clever guys those ants.
