Computer/Photography Group

Hi,
We are starting our regular Tuesday morning meetings January 3 for 2012 and the topic will be computer problems. Specifically it is my problem of a Laptop with display issues. I will go through the steps done so far to analyze the problem  and hopefully how to fix it.

Following are some pictures of the computer innards.
My Dell 1720 Laptop.

All the bits are there.

This is called an inverter board. I think this is the culprit.

I have ordered a replacement part.

Computer/Photography grp.

Hello All,
On December 14 this group went on a Year End/Christmas field trip. We left from the Legion at 8:45am to the Mill Bay ferry. It was a cloudy dull day so not a good opportunity for pictures on the ferry. We arrived at Butterfly Gardens, Brentwood Bay at 10 am and spent a few great hours taking pictures and getting a guided tour from one of the staff. Lots of picture possibilities.
We then went to Blue's Bayou Cafe for a nice relaxing lunch and on home by road.
Here are some pictures and if you want more, go to: https://picasaweb.google.com/ysagssl/20111214YSAGComputerPhotographyGrpFieldTrip?authkey=Gv1sRgCK_drs7ZnJ-jfA

First two of our walkers were quite chilled by the time the stragglers joined them
so were readily persuaded to make our first stop Riders Roadhouse at Pioneer
Square for a warmup coffee.Without three of our dedicated drivers,Claudia,
Vera M,and Diane,we decided to postpone our next visit to the trestle again.
Instead we headed back in the direction of the Legion with one vehicle making
a quick right at Kerry Park exit to fulfill our photo assignment while the other
vehicle........... ( no pedometers available to clock walking distances )
Thank you for submitting pictures and post for this week,Joan
Next monday the 12th we will try to get to the Kinsol Trestle.Meet at the

Computer/Photography grp.

This coming Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 10 am we will talk about computers. Helen will come with some specific questions, maybe we can help her.
I would like to dig into the many places in the Control Panel and see whether our individual computers can be made to run more efficiently or faster. Come with questions and describe problems you have had recently. There always are problems aren't there?
See you then.

We explored the Silver Mine Trail that is located behind the newish development when you drive on Ingot Road off Thain.
What is new is that the CVRD has made a connection to this trail from Shawnigan Beach Estates which can be reached by going to the end of Gregory Street.
There weren't many photo opportunities except the steam breathing animal shown:
